    Laughing Michael "Cyndi Lauper" Sweet
Seriously though, that's what the old thread said:
    Significant high notes:
    • C♯6 ("Blackout")
    • C6 ("In God We Trust" live)
    • B5 ("In God We Trust" live)
    • G♯5 ("To Hell with the Devil")
    • G5 (Interview)
    • F♯5 ("Soldiers Under Command", "Highway Star", "Blackout", "On Fire", "God")
    • F5 ("Loud 'N' Clear")
    • E♭5 ("To Hell with the Devil", "Immigrant Song", "Highway Star", "The Trooper", "More Than a Man" live)
    • C♯5 ("Blackout")
    • C5 ("Immigrant Song", "More Than a Man")

    Significant low notes:
    • C3 ("More Than a Man" live)
    • B2 ("My Love, My Life, My Flame")

Honestly I haven't heard most of these notes so I have no idea what the colours should be (though I expect most of them to be black).

affraid At those high notes (and that absolutely XX timbre in the first low clip Shocked)! The C6 was IMO actually one of the best-sounding ones, along with the B5.
I can surely buy him as a HT, btw.

Same here. He is able to make his voice sound more 'dramatic', but it's obvious that his voice is naturally VERY bright and easy.

    Michael's Sweet Voice

Post  Clem on Thu Aug 08, 2013 10:17 am

Really great range. People often underestimate these guys 'cos of the label 'Christian Metal', but they're very talented, regardless of religious opinion. Whilst his range could certainly push me towards thinking HT, his timbre hasn't got quite the bright edge of Geddy Lee or Michael Jackson. I'd leave him as a ST, in the same boat as Tony Harnell. Love that C6 in 'In God We Trust'. It's freakin' mindblowing!

He is definitely a high tenor, but listing him as a 'tenor' will definitely do. Some of his singing back in the day was so effortless.

I remember the youtube user Jowox included a very powerful live B5 in the video he made for Michael. It was a performance of The Way in 1991 (?) but can´t remember the venue Confused

I have seen a few Youtube videos showing his vocal ranges, but then stumbled across an Indonesia video from around May of this year.
scanning thru most of the songs, he seems to be avoiding the high notes these days.

is it intentional or can he just not handle them anymore?

The end of THwTD and Soldiers, he nails the high notes perfectly, but h stays in what I would call a monotone range the entire show.

    This is insane! Shocked

B♭5 ("Jesus Is Just Alright", "Marching into Battle")
G♯5 ("Jesus Is Just Alright", "Marching into Battle", "Saved by Love")
F♯5 ("Legacy", "No More Hell to Pay", "Saved by Love")
    F5 ("Legacy")
    E5 ("The One")
    E♭5 ("Renewed", "Saved by Love")
C♯5 ("Sticks & Stones", "Sympathy", "The One", "Water into Wine")
C5 ("Jesus Is Just Alright", "Sticks & Stones")

All on the new album. Smile By the way - why is the C♯6 red? It's gritty yes, but it's a pretty strong note to me and he sustains it for a little bit. If anything the B♭2 is red, he barely touches it.

So according to the video I put some time ago:

C♯6 ("Makes Me Want To Sing" live in Japan)
A5 ("Co'mon Rock" live in Japan)
G♯5 ("Together Forever", "From Wrong To Right", "Rock The People", "More Than A Man", "On Fire", "Ain't No Safe Way")
    G5 ("Interview")
F♯5 ("Rock The Hell Out Of You", "Shining Star", "Against The Law", "Rock The People")
F5 ("Ain"t No Safe Way", "Two Bodies (One Mind One Soul)", "(Waiting For) A Love That's Real", "Loving You"
    E5 ("Still")
E♭5 ("Together Forever", "Not That Kind Of Guy", "Shining Star", "Rock The People", "Take Me Home", "I Think You Hear Me Knockin'")
D5 ("Rockin' The World", "Reach Out", "You Know What To Do")
C♯5 ("First Love", "Reason For The Season", "Lonely", "Rock The Hell Out Of You", "Rockin' The World")
C5 ("(Waiting For) A Love That's Real", "More Than A Man")

The pitches sound right to me as well Smile.
