Cornell gone tenor, that's what Richie Kotzen sounds like... Not only a great guitarist, but also a very good singer.

4:18 has a C♯5 that sounds just like Michael Bolton. Brilliant E5s and more C♯5s after that.

Holy wow, he sounds so great there. The high belts remind me of Glenn Hughes, actually!

The last bit has indeed a similar phrasing to Hughes.

0:34 - F5?
A somewhat fryish note around ~F2 sliding up to D3 (right at the beginning).
Many D5s throughout the song.

F♯5s at 2:40. Falsetto?

Sounds a lot like Glenn Hughes on this one, both musically and vocally. Could be straight off a Hughes solo record.

EDIT:

Low rapping from "Degeneration":

G5/G♯5 from the same song:

Video up at some point... I've had VARIOUS technical problems, but I hope I'll succeed soon enough.

I had actually just uploaded the video when I noticed those rapped lows, and ummm, yeah... Rolling Eyes Remaking again, brb.

They are panned to the left channel.
I noticed them when I was sitting off-center in front of my speakers (that Picosong clip is the left channel extracted and volume-boosted).

After hours of struggling with all the bugs and copious amounts of remaking the video, it's finally up! Feel free to share and comment!

By the way, gets another G5 at the end of "A Woman & a Man"... Extremely similar to the one on "Natural Thing".

I added that one, too.
His voice today is amazing, especially considering he's had two throat surgeries to remove vocal nodules.
Having a coach teach him a healthy technique really seems to have paid out.

Two throat surgeries!? Wow! When were these? Mid-90's, maybe?

Richie Kotzen wrote:I started trying to sing when i was a teenager but honestly I don't think my voice really found itself until I hit my early 20's. I went to a vocal coach a few times because I had a problem singing but they were not vocal lessons.... I ended up having 2 surgeries on my throat for nodes then I figured I was doing something wrong... the coach helped me change the way I sang without changing my sound...
He also said last year (when he was having problems with his voice again):
Richie Kotzen wrote:Since I came back from (touring in) Europe I have been struggling with my voice. Last Saturday's gig in San Juan Cap (sic) was a vocal disaster. I thought it was fatigue from the brutal schedule in Europe. However, the voice is getting worse... I went to my doctor in Beverly Hills... I was concerned I may have nodes. 16 years ago I had nodes... twice... two separate surgeries... He looked at me and it is very very bad news... My left vocal cord is haemorrhaged, bruised, and bleeding. The bottom line is I need to be on total voice rest for the next three weeks. This means no singing and limited talking... He explained that by trying to sing in this condition I would likely ruin my voice for good. I am very sorry but I must cancel all shows for April.
So he had those surgeries in 1996.

Two performances I thought were worth sharing:

From 20 years ago. Wow, his voice has hold up well.
I hear a lot of Bolton in this one.
Starts with really nice clean singing up to D5; crazy F5 at 3:21

I really like Richie's version(s) of this song.
It's not easy to do the Mickey Thomas vocal justice.
Has some D5s and F5s, too.

And here's the same song, but with Billy playing a Jazz Bass (which suits the song better):
Richie Kotzen with guest, Billy Sheehan - Fooled Around and Fell in Love - YouTube

Don't really know anything about this guy other than having heard his name, but this new single/video showed up in youtube-recommendations and it's pretty badass! Lots of brilliant, Cornell-esque vocals as well as a good tune overall.

Great song! B4s in the chorus and a screamed E5 at 2:19.

Easy B4s in the chorus and C#5s (forEVer one...)

Solid E♭2 here while singing the bassline from Cannibals. Gotta love how often we find lows out of this kind of situation lol.
