Kevin's Covers and Snippets

Post  kephxi on Fri Aug 05, 2016 7:24 pm

I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I'm new here and would like to receive any kind of feedback. Let me know what you guys think.

I have been singing since forever. My dad was in a band as one of the lead singers. He also wrote and produced a few tracks on the debut album.

I'm on a journey to explore and find my voice. I want build my artistry, explore techniques, and develop control.

Here a few covers I've done in the past and recently. I'll post more covers when I have time. Thank you!

What voice type do you think I am?

Set Me on Fire by Bella Ferraro is such an amazing song. Here are my 2 cents. Listen to the original!

I'd say baritenor, and now that I've said that, I'm expecting Demi to make fun of me for it.

why do you care though? not to be rude, just curious. voice type really isn't super important in regards to singing, but idk you sound like a middle voice, ie high baritone/low tenor. great tone though. you have a lovely voice

That's a new one! Haha

I've been called many things like a bass, baritone, light bass, low baritone, and a tenor once. But my normal talking voice is quite low for a tenor so I don't know why anyone would think tenor...

Anyways, I searched "baritenor" and this is what I got...

"Baritenor (also rendered in English language sources as bari-tenor or baritenore) is a portmanteau (blend) of the words "baritone" and "tenor". It is used to describe both baritone and tenor voices. In Webster's Third New International Dictionary it is defined as 'a baritone singing voice with virtually a tenor range'."

"What it describes is people without the natural depth associated with the baritone voice but without the full high range of the tenor voice. To me, this is code for a tenor who hasn't figured out his high voice yet."

The second one's my favorite! Haha! I don't have a tenor range though... The highest note I can reach at the moment is a G4 and sometimes an A4 but it sounds ugly. The highest note I can reach head voice/falsetto (comfortably) is an E5 (and then sometimes all the way up to a G#5).

Full range: Eb2 - A4 - G#5
Comfort range: E2 - F4 (F#4, G4) - E5

based off of that, you're probably a baritone with an under-developed high range.

I know voice types aren't everything but it's still fun to figure out the label. Some people might be a certain voice types but can still hit notes lower or higher than their voice type range definition. I just think it's interesting. Smile

My focus right now is singing in a healthy way, breathing, and techniques.

The reason I thought you were a baritenor is because you sound really similar to Brandon Boyd of Incubus, and he's listed as a baritenor here. Laughing
