Because Let It Go isn't really a good song. Just chose it cause it's challenging.

You raped your voice

Very interesting wording.

Honestly dude, Chandelier isn't a good song for you right now. You really do need to work on your fifth octave belting before you can attempt a song like that.

Edit: The song's not really that easy to replicate though, so I'll at least tell you it wasn't completely terrible.

I think Let It Go is a pretty good song, but Take On Me is a much better one.
Fetty Mercury wrote:What was so bad about Take On Me?
The random-sounding "ooh" bits in the intro weren't really good or bad, but their unexpectedness amused me a little.
As Sippe and Holsety mentioned, much of your performance was kind of shouty. Morten Harket once said in an interview that the chorus was the easy part for him, and the challenge was to make the verses "bounce". Your verses lacked bounce.
In the choruses, your switch from a punkish, masculine, shouty delivery to your contrastingly girly falsetto was the bit that actually made me lol. Can you remember (without relistening) exactly where Morten switches to falsetto? I'm not saying you should necessarily do it the same way, just asking because he makes the transition more smoothly (it's on the line "I'll be gone" in the first two choruses, then in the last chorus he sings that line in full voice and only the E5 ("day") in falsetto).
You seem to be struggling a bit with the A2s, though that's very understandable especially given your age. I didn't hear the second one at all, and what even was that last one? Did you start on A3 or something before sliding down?
The penultimate E5 was actually good, and the last one would have been really impressive if only the start of it had been spot on - nice sustain though.
I do sincerely admire your bravery in sharing your attempt at a difficult song that you obviously don't know very well in response to a challenge, so even though it's far from perfect, well done.

You know guys, the point of this thread is to sing songs we consider above our level; so that amount of criticism doesn't really help anyone.

In-depth criticism like yours is fine, and really the best thing that can come out of this thread; but saying 'this song is above your level' by itself is almost always stating the obvious.

Thanks for actually saying what was bad about it instead of saying "that sucked". But again, this is a thread to CHALLENGE yourself.

Both takes sounded very good. Some of the octave dropping sounded strange, and you cracked a bit in the first, but otherwise fine.

You have a REALLY high voice, even higher than Geddy Lee or Steve Perry! Not using that as an insult.

It's a bit quiet and I'm a bit shaky as I have to get a bit more comfortable in front of a mic (but since it's supposed to be a first-take bit and there are people sleeping in my house, I didn't want to re-do it), but here's a bass-baritone's take on the infamous "Take on Me" chorus (first an octave lower and then in the original octave). No Geddy Lee-esque screeching necessary. Thumb up
I'd like to hear you do the whole song. That wasn't bad, but doing it an octave lower at the start is a bit rangewanky Naughty

My son sometimes does it an octave lower like that just to wind me up when I'm struggling to try to hit the A2.
P.S. Here's another a-ha song that might be a fun challenge for someone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVl4qvHuY8g

Well, it's the octave that I'm the most comfortable in.
