Wimped out on the intro G#5s too.
you sound like you keep changing your mind on whether you should try and sing, or whisper so that you don't wake up your parents.

I can't even give 1/10 for effort

I'll post a second cover tonight, on my own thread.

Don't "cover" anything right now.

Practice and attempt something once in months.

Practice "All of me" by John legend. Cover it in a month from now just to see how you're doing with it.

I don't want to see you posting shit regularly, none of us do that, that's because your voice improves slowly, not instantly.

You suck at singing right now, I wouldn't even call it singing. Do yourself and us (our ears) a favor and get good, the only way to do that is to stop this madness of range wankery and work on songs that challenge you but are not impossible.

Work on All of me-John legend and on 29 of September post your cover of it.

It'll help you gaining a better more solid tone and you'll train to actually hit some fucking notes since they'll be in your range mostly, this way your pitch matching abilities should improve too.

After that I'm gonna suggest you work on another song depending on your progress, you need someone to just slap you and give you something to work on in a very plain way.

See you or shall I say, hear you on the 29 of September.

Work on one fucking song, don't fuck it up kid.
Listen to the original, try mimicking it, listen to yourself, fix it, try mimicking it, listen back, repeat.
Trial error and fix.

May the odds be in your favor.

I made a second cover

I cracked a few times, but other than that, it was much better. I did the D5-E5 phrasing, hit the intro notes (Taking them even higher!) and actually sang the bridge. Highs were also less strained, and I didn't chop as many notes, instead doing studio phrasing.

Did you even read what he wrote? The intro notes were fucking awful. Stop this. Work on singing.

Where do I even begin?

You comment pointing out "everything that's wrong with the cover". Like, why do you even post stuff? All you do is act like you know exactly what you're lacking in end up brushing feedback aside and doing the same thing over and over again.

Dude, you're not even close to knowing everything that's wrong. If you actually knew what you're doing wrong your covers wouldn't be so bad. Just work on your singing by yourself: nobody wants to hear your terrible covers at this point. There's no shame in being bad as long as and you're really willing to get it together and get good through hard work and you're not a total show-off who doesn't even practise (let alone apply himself) when it comes to his own art. Guess where you're at right now.

I've honestly been TOO nice and stuck my ass out to defend you from a lot of toxic bullshit a dozen times only to know you're still doing the same stupid shit.

I'll avoid anything that has to do with your singing from now on. You're not even trying to improve. Cheers.

Trp 2 will remain here anyways, so we'll still be able to post I suppose.
I think TRP2 will eventually get locked, so you'll still be able to read it but it's not likely to be open for posting forever.

I have been trying to improve, i've been working on making my approach less shouty, have been working on making my highs sound less strained by using a headier approach, and i'm responding to feedback.

"Dude, you're not even close to knowing everything that's wrong. If you actually knew what you're doing wrong your covers wouldn't be so bad. People DO want to hear my covers, i've got several positive comments, and i've also got lots of advice about how to do better. I'm not making these covers to show off, i'm doing them to challenge myself, to see if I can do these songs.

I am trying to improve, as said above.

We aren't too thrilled with you putting no effort into your covers. Find a song inside your range, work on it, and put out a decent cover. Your low singing isn't too bad but your high stuff is just painful.

Agreed. It's not necessarily that we don't like your singing, but your "it's a challenge so I don't need to try hard" attitude is what's bothering us. If you were listening to advice, you wouldn't have sung those godawful high notes at the beginning. Singing hard songs is not the way to go to start off with.

Honestly, stick to just singing within your range for now. Don't reach for the falsetto-high notes if you can't reach them or if they strain your voice, because you'll do yourself damage and it won't sound as good as you think. I've spoilered some song suggestions for you (I'm assuming you are a tenor at the moment) underneath  because they're in your comfortable range. Try one of these to start off with. I know they may be "boring" or perhaps not in the genre you like, but we'd rather listen to a good cover of one of these songs than another one of what you're trying to do.

Just as a "by the way" here, "challenging songs" don't necessarily equate with "lung popping songs". There are plenty of songs with difficult phrasing, odd melodies, etc.

I get Fetty's point to some extent, but mate, you've got no nuance in your argument. You indeed can improve by challenging yourself, but that doesn't happen by challenging yourself to your absolute limit. You have to do it a little at a time.

Re: Hard Songs To Sing Challenge

It's not my absolute limit, though. Songs at my absolute limit would include stuff like "Queen of the Reich" or "2112" or "Wuthering Heights".

I did put effort into this cover, though. You were right that the falsetto notes were bad.

Can we please not make this another derailment, and stay on task?
