Temple of the Dog - Call me a Dog (COVER)

Post  theocd on Wed Mar 02, 2016 3:20 pm

So I haven't heard this song that much before recording this so it sounds a bit different, but I loved it so I gave it a shot.
It's poorly recorded on a webcam mic but that was what I could use.
Just give your opinions. ty!  Wink

Wow, you have a really beautiful timbre. One of my favourite songs aswell. Great work

You seem to have some trouble with getting round to some of the higher notes, but maybe trying to hit them in a cleaner way instead of rasping them out, at least until you can get a better tone out of them and hit them more solidly.

I don't know the exact specifics of the technique. Maybe somebody else in the forum can give you some tips with this.

But yeah, great work! I really enjoyed it.

that was lovely. Rebbie is right though, you getting up to some of the higher notes sounded like your voice was about to crack. Idk if it really felt that way, but it sort of sounded like that based off of the mini-cracks before you'd sing the notes.

Haha thanks for the compliments
And about the high notes.. It seems normal to me, didn't felt tight or anything at all, I could sustain them longer or go higher without cracking..
But I had woke up a few minutes before I recorded it without warming up, and also this mic is very sensitive so maybe these things caused that impression.

Well I actually liked that raspy high sound!
However, probably even if you don't think about it, you tire your voice. Technique should be improved up there (I have enormous issues with my high register, but your "natural technique" is better than mine anyway) but your timbre is pretty good! Smile
You have my appreciation mate

Well the high notes sound good, but I just find those brief cracks as you ascend curious. I have the same thing happen to my voice when I start entering my A4-C5 area.

Positively surprised by this one. I like your tone as well as the higher notes, they show a lot of soul and potential! Even the cracks suit the performance well.
