Wonderful singer and songwriter, Lucio Dalla took to Italy some Jazzy way of singing and joined it with the operistic tradition, often recovering the Neapolitan musical background ("Caruso"). Smooth and agile voice, he could transition from sort of a dark-baritone raspy sound to a bright and tenorish sound, but his most recognised feature can be found in his James Brown-ish harsh and VERY chesty high notes and in his almost spoken low register, starting around C3. Surely one of the best Italian voices of the 20th century.
