Jon Camp of Renaissance

A literally unsung hero of prog rock, Camp does not even have a wiki page about him. But listen to the "classic" seventies recordings of Renaissance, and you will realise that the male voice was just as important as the female voice. Listen here to his fine harmonies with the better known Annie Haslam on these two numbers, I will add more as and when I get the time. Jon did sing the lead on a few numbers, I will trawl the band's canon to find the best examples.

Voice type: Baritone

Significant highs: A4 "Ashes are Burning"
                       G4  "Prologue"

Significant Lows: B2 "Only Angels Have Wings"

Camp was also a fine versatile bass player. Since for a long time the band did not really have a lead guitarist as such (Michael Dunford played mostly acoustic guitar at this time), Camp played the bass as more of a melodic instrument than as a rhythm instrument.

You are aware that you have to have notes before posting a thread, right?

It's a Thread in Progress.  Very Happy

The first song contains many fine A4's, the second is mostly around the D4 - F4 range. To get a good example of Jon's lower notes I need to find good examples of his solo singing, which is awkward whilst I am still at work.
