Neige (Stéphane Paut)

Post  Guest on Mon May 18, 2015 3:21 pm

Status: Unfinished

Still checking songs

Singer from post-metal / shoegazing band Alcest, Neige can do both brutal harsh screaming and gentle soft singing. Today he tends to stay in a middle-range comfort zone though, but that doesn't make his singing less beautiful.

Voice Type: Tenor
Vocal Range: B2-E♭5 (so far)

Significant High Notes:

  • E♭5 ("La Forêt De Cristal")
  • C♯5 ("La Mort Plane Sur Ces Contrées Glacées")
  • C5 ("Percées De Lumière", "Élévation (2011 version)", "Tristesse Hivernale", "En Mémoire Aux Valeureux Guerriers")
  • B4 ("Ciel Errant")
  • B♭4 ("Écailles De Lune Pt. 2")
  • A4 ("Écailles De Lune")

Significant Low Notes:

  • D3 ("Les Iris")
  • C3 ("Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde", "Sur L'Océan Couleur De Fer", "Autre Temps")
  • B2 ("Ciel Errant")

Albums checked:
- 2001 - Tristesse Hivernale
- 2005 - Le Secret
- 2007 - Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde
- 2010 - Écailles De Lune

...................................................................................
*Green marks highly distorted notes.
*Italics mark non-sung notes.
*Underlines mark notes in backing vocals or obscured in the song mix.

I wouldn't say he is very versatile, he has mainly two styles that sound very contrasting, either a cloud-like clean voice or his black metal shrieks, and vary between those. But I really like his vocals, they give a very warm, dream-like feeling to his music.

He was part of a shitload of other projects as well, like Amesoeurs and Lantlos, give them a check when you have time, I believe you will like them Smile

If you're going to use underlines to denote backing vocal notes, I'd recommend not underlining the pitches too...

I love Amesoeurs from the bottom of my heart, there lies the most beautiful female voice on earth in my opinion (Audrey Sylvain, Neige's ex-grilfriend). She did all the clean vocals, it's a real shame they disbanded, her voice is a gem.

Edit: Forget me, I understood what you said now.
