Drewsif Stalin (Andrew Reynolds)

Post  mrww on Sun May 17, 2015 3:45 pm

Voice type: Baritone
Vocal range: E2-G5
Status: WORK IN PROGRESS

Basic Decription: Drew is a metal singer/guitarist/producer from Maryland, and is heavily influenced by the "djent" movement. He writes, records, and releases all of his music through his YouTube channel and Bandcamp account (both linked at the end of this post). Even though his recorded range may not reflect it, Drew is a baritone, often utilizing his very gritty mixed voice register instead of any falsetto. His vocal style includes dense harmonies, written closely to one another, underneath a powerful lead vocal. His cover of Intervals' "Ephemeral" well represents his style. He does more singing than screaming, but those are just as powerful. If you find anymore significant notes I may have missed (especially in his low range), please let me know! Very Happy

Significant High Notes:
G5: Ephemeral
F5: Ephemeral
E5: Collapse, Contempt, Languish, Nightfall, Mirage
E♭5: Sisyphus, Ephemeral, Black Christmas
D5: Overjoyed, Mirage
C♯5: Sisyphus, Epitaph
C5: Collapse, Seldom, Ephemeral, Devout, Mirage
B4: Sisyphus, Contempt, Languish, Overjoyed, Mirage

A4: Collapse, Seldom, Sisyphus, Contempt, Languish, Mirage
A♭4: Collapse, Seldom, Ephemeral
G4: Seldom, End of Days Pt. 2: Reoccurring Nightmare

Significant Low Notes:
E♭3: Sisyphus
D3: Ephemeral
D♭3: Sisyphus

B♭2: Sisyphus, Ephemeral, Hungarian Dance No. 5

Here's a bit of a note by note cap of what I've heard so far.

E♭3s, G♯4, B4s, C5s and a backing falsetto E♭5 (0:33) from 'Black Christmas'.
That E♭3 of 'Contempt' in the OP is actually an E3.
In 'Overjoyed', there is a D5, C5, B4, B♭4, A4 and a G♯4.
There's a G#4, A4, C#3, and a E3 in 'Hope Springs (Dried Up)'.
There's several A2s to C3s, as well as G♯4s, A4s, B4s, a C5 and a E5 in 'Consequence'.
There's a G4 in 'End Of Days Pt. 2: Reoccurring Nightmare'
There's some random shouted phrases going from G♯4 to B4 in Deadfall, though I can't tell if it's him or a sample.
There's an A4, a B2 and a weak as fuck B♭2 in his cover of the Hungarian Dance No.5.
And to cap off for now, there's a G4, A4s, a C5 as well as a somewhat backing E5 (4:33) in Nightfall. There's also a E3, if you want to count that.

All these taken from his Bandcamp.

And to phrase Nick - please just use Baritone as a voice type, if it's even necessary.

Great, thanks so much. I'll include some of these in the post.
Also, yeah, looking back on it, I'll just call him a baritone.

Is mrww going to ever update the thread? I'd be willing to take over if no one else is willing to do so.

I did actually update the thread from what MrChongHead gave me. I didn't use a lot of the notes he gave me because some notes (especially in the high range) would be redundant, having 6 or 7 songs next to them. I also did just work on the final 3 songs of ...Comes To An End because I realized I hadn't done those yet.

I think there's multiple versions of several songs i.e. Contempt. I can't remember if the different versions have some different pitches, so that might need to be checked.
