Minoru Niihara

Post  The Toyman Cometh on Wed Apr 29, 2015 2:17 pm

Voice Type: Loudness Tenor
Vocal Range: E1-B♭6(WIP)

Significant high notes:

B♭6 ("Strike of the Sword")
B♭5 ("Like Hell", "Terror")
A5 ("Like Hell")
G5 ("We Could Be Together")
G♭5 ("Terror")
F5 ("Heavy Chains", "The Lines Are Down")
E5 ("Crazy Nights", "Heavy Chains", "King Of Pain")
E♭5 ("I Can't Wait")
D5 ("King Of Pain", "Like Hell", "The Lines Are Down", "Terror")
C5 ("The Night Beast", "Terror")
A4 ("Ares' Lament", "Heavy Chains", "Never Change Your Mind")
A♭4 ("I Can't Wait", "Savior", "Terror")
G4 (""Heavy Chains")
F4 ("Crazy Nights", "Heavier Than Hell", " I Can't Wait")

Significant low notes:

E♭3 ("I Can't Wait", "Terror")
D3 ("Heavier Than Hell")
A♭2 ("Savior")
G2 ("The Night Beast")
E2  ("King Of Pain")
C2 ("King Of Pain")
B1  ("Savior")
E1 ("King Of Pain")
...................................................
*Purple or Underlines mark notes in backing vocals or otherwise obscured.
*Italics mark non-melodic notes.
*Blue marks falsetto notes
*Green marks harsh distorted note

So, a friend from Japan just got me into these guys.  Good god those screams are impressive.  They have that sexy metal aggressive rasp like Mike Howe has!  I couldn't clock all the screams, but they were impressive.  Shocked

Lol, he sounds like a cross between Steven Tyler, Michael Jackson, and Geddy Lee.

The questioned A#6 might be a guitar slide or pinched harmonic, but it might be falsetto/whistle scream around 2:50 in.  I'm pretty sure it is him, and I'm gunna stop listening to it before I shudder to death.

that Bb6 sounds like a human voice, but it's not all that impressive, in my opinion. Also, obvious tenor is obvious Laughing

I figured. It would be more impressive it was sung rather than a creepy high pitch Devin Towsend or Mike Patton thing. I don't know if I should keep it black or not. :/

Finally, I found 2 more low notes. Out of curiosity...would growls remain black? The B1 is a death growl and the G#2 is like a higher growl.

hihi, I have been around for a while to know that some notations aren't used e.g.(A#6->B♭6 ("Strike of the Sword")/A#5->B♭5 ("Like Hell")/
D#3->E♭3 ("I Can't Wait")) etc. Also the correct color for falsetto is this color, color=#0033ff. Other than that keep up the good work Thumb up

For blue, use color=blue. Don't worry about the hexidecimal, it's much easier than memorizing the code.

Pretty sure the voice behind the guitar is like an A4 right before that staccato/trill thing on the guitar. If you mean when he rises off the E4. I guess I'll add the A4.

Thank you for this thread, I'm a huge fan and find him very powerful and aggressive yet classy & peculiar.

No problem, and after hearing that high 6th octave I thought he deserved one.
