gt1995's Singing Thread

Post  t1995 on Thu Dec 18, 2014 11:23 am

Sup guys Smile Let's give this a shot.

Barro Tal Vez - Luis Alberto Spinetta (for anyone unfamiliar with the original and curious enough, this is it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdrmY06iCcU -yes, I just promoted other musicians instead of myself completely negating the point of this thread. Sorry.)

For The Kingdom (semi-acoustic version) - Unisonic (this one's frankly a lot rougher and raw recording-wise but I quite like the tonal result, so why not?)

Really pleasant tone you've got going on both covers. I like that you focused on your mid-lower range with these because it showcases your natural warm tenor timbre very nicely. Keep singing man! Only complaint is there were some brief moments in the first link that were a tad pitchy, but otherwise solid stuff. Thumb up

I really appreciate the kind words, buddy In Love I definitely agree there were some pitchy moments in the first one and it was a helluva work to introduce all the harmonies as well. I'll keep in mind to do even more takes next time so I can be more accurate.

I'll record more after my cold is over... or come to think of it, before, since it actually worked out for me in the first one. lol!

In The Morning - Halford (mix's still on the really quiet side -struggling with file-corrupting compressors atm, so make sure to turn the volume up)

Here's a Frusciante cover - "The Past Recedes". Mix's rough and quiet since I still kinda suck at getting them done (if Heroins were to ever mix it for me, that'd be great and I would love him more than I already do!)

Don't know the original song so I can't make comparisons between them, but your cover sounded very pleasant. Can't say anything bothered me while listening, really. Nice work man!

Much appreciated bro!
With any luck I'll have some originals mixed (not by myself) in the following weeks, so uh... stay tuned for some updates?

Nice work on your newest cover GT, I think your harmonies were strong and the guitar playing was very satisfying. I believe you could beef up your tone a bit more and give it a little more energy though if I am to criticize anything. Overall I think it was a nice performance and I enjoyed it, not much to criticize without being a nitpicking asshole. Smile

Some of those harmonies are so sweet and have such great harmony.

I feel like it got significantly better as it went on. Good work.
