feargm's Singing Thread

Post  feargm on Sat Dec 06, 2014 11:08 pm

Videos:

Avenged Sevenfold - Chapter Four live cover: A live-pretend version me and friends of mine did of Chapter Four by Avenged Sevenfold. This one was really fun.

Clop HQ - Downfall's Hitler scene dub: A dub of the famous Hitler scene me and some friends did. This was the first time I voice acted.

Fort Minor - Remember The Name live cover: As the description of the video says, this is all a joke. It's just me and two good friends of mine covering Remember The Name by Fort Minor in a fictional setting we made up for fun. The Clop HQ is our rancid group of friends.

This is the studio version of the cover above that we've done.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Stand Proud cover: A vocal cover of the song Stand Proud from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure by Jin Hashimoto. The hardest thing I've performed so far. This is also the first time ever I've sung and spoke Japanese at all, so please do not judge my pronunciation too hard.

Linkin Park - Papercut live cover: Another parody dub cover, this one being with my good friend Gomgo doing Mike Shinoda's vocals, while I do Chester's.

Undertale - Alphys's Introduction + Mettaton's Quiz Show dub: This was an extremely fun dub to do albeit painful to put together. Special thanks to iero for helping me, she has never acted before and she doesn't have a lot of experience with the English language, but I think she did an outstanding job for her standards.

Undertale - Blue Lips: Cover done with my friends, not much else to say.

Undertale - Mad Dummy Battle dub: My second ever attempt at voice acting something. I suppose that the best thing about this one is that I sound nothing like myself in it.

Undertale - Stronger Than You: A vocal cover of the famous Undertale parody song, Stronger Than You.

Wow your lows are really strong. The higher harmonies were great when they first come in but they were kind of in and out of pitch towards the very end. There were also some pitchy notes towards the beginning but over all I think it was a good cover.

I was listening to The House of the Rising Sun by Five Finger Death Punch (it's a cover) and thought it might sound cool in your voice. Check it out. That song has some cool low notes.

Oh I know that song and Five Finger Death Punch, I'll probably cover it someday. Thank you very much for the suggestion! Very Happy

Although it might take a long while for it to be done since I first need to learn the lyrics, have a lot of covers scheduled, and will also soon be in the process of recording an album with my band. Razz

Speaking of Five Finger Death Punch, I'm quite surprised their singer doesn't have a thread here yet.

I haven't posted on my own thread since its creation, just edited and updated it adding other covers in the process. Yesterday however, I made a cover of Welcome To The Family by Avenged Sevenfold, and I'm actually really satisfied with it unlike my other covers. Thought about posting it here with the isolated vocal track.

Yep! I love them and covered Billy Not Really per suggestion by a close friend of mine when I asked him what song of theirs should I cover first. x)

I'll definitely do more of their stuff in the future, will try to reserve time for that in my schedule.

You have one of the easiest 2nd octaves I've ever heard. I'd be more jealous, if I sang low more Razz. Lol, no but your cover of Welcome to the Family is pretty unique, and I think it's pretty cool. You just have so many covers  Freak. It would take a whole afternoon to listen to them all. Nice job though

Stop singing highs man, that low register is mesmerizing. Your low register is so smooth. I'd dig hearing you stretch out the bottom of your range.

Well don't tell him to stop singing highs  Naughty. That's harsh. I'm sure with practice, or especially with training he could easily show off a strong upper range.

Thank you so much, really! I appreciate your words immensely. I'm just an amateur singer who does it for fun, and I hope to evolve as time goes on (which I thankfully have). I put a lot of time and dedication into singing and my covers, striving to get better every day. I'm just confused almost all the time about my range because I feel like my second octave notes should be third octave sometimes and my fourth octave notes should be fifth...? Like I put as much strength as I can into notes that I would think are A4-D5, but are apparently A3-D4 and I don't know what to do lol. I feel like my fifth octave doesn't exist outside from falsetto.

Still, hopefully I can a vocal coach in the future and do better things with my voice, because I have no vocal training whatsoever, I've been simply practicing by myself for almost 4 years now. It's a slow as hell process and I'm not sure at all how I have not given up listening back to some recordings I have from 2012-2013 which were utter crap, but I believe I'm getting better with each cover. Thanks again for the words and support! <3

I don't wanna offend but your other friend has too high and soft voice for rap, he doesn't really feat the song and correct me if I'm wrong but sometimes when you sings, speicaly in the 2nd octave you sounds like "you get abit bored", like there's not enough passion in your voice, it happens to me aswell sometimes Dull maybe it's due to the lack of power in the lower singing

Well, this is that one moment where vois type seems to matter. You are certainly a bass, considering your situation with A3-D4 feeling like A4-D5, and your effortless low range. However, if you can find/afford a good vocal coach, definitely go for it. I know some even do Skype lessons, so if you want to progress a little faster that's the way to go. I'm glad you have fun with singing though Yeah! Some people take it way too seriously sometimes. Keep working hard though, and you'll definitely surprise yourself. I'm positive you have a strong upper range in there

He definitely does have low self-esteem when it comes to singing and rapping, I shared your comments to him and it made him pretty happy!

About my other friend, yeah we were all conscious of his struggles, including himself. I would say that the main things that made it difficult for him were the fact that he had no experience with rapping beforehand unlike me and my other friend, and that he has a hard time with the English language sometimes. I asked him to try rapping with a bit of a deeper tone but he said it hurt his throat.

Haha. x) I never really stopped to measure my lowest modal notes... I think that the lowest I've gone in my fry recordings was like D1 but I don't know for sure, and without fry I tend to be able to sing down to B♭1 with ease most of the days.
