Zedd Squared's Singing Thread

Post  Zedd Squared on Fri Dec 05, 2014 2:50 pm

Hey guys. So this is my thread for covers/originals so I'll start by posting some baritone crooning I did recently with a cover of Leonard Cohen's Dance Me to the End of Love.

Lemme know what you think.

Here's a duet that The Great Heroins and I did together. It's "Hey You" by Pink Floyd with Heroins singing Gilmour's part and me doing Roger's. I sing from 3:00 onwards, not my greatest singing ever but Heroins did a great job mixing and singing it and I think I got some good tonal singing in there. Let me know what you guys think.

I liked the fact that your voice are different and gives some variety to the cover. Great job.

Thanks! Good to hear.

Here's me singing The Carpet Crawlers by Genesis. I think this showcases me in my natural environment with very proggy/English sounding diction. My first full cover on my own in a loooong time too.

Here's my rather over the top cover of Lamb of God's Overlord. I think it has some of my best harsh vocals as well as some low and high singing I'm pretty proud of, lemme know what you guys think.

Not bad dude. Idk what you did to the growls, but they sounded massive, surprisingly good too. Your singing was good as usual, piss easy low singing, and that belt at the end was gorgeous. Of course, my only gripes would be the distorted vocals, mainly the screams. The A4s on "another day" and whatnot sounded very rough and rigid, and the fry screams were extremely dry sounding, and even a tad throaty in a few spots. Not bad, but just keep working on them. This was a good cover, but you still have plenty of room to improve with those harsh vocals. Keep it up though. I'm glad you're posting covers more frequently now.

Yeah the A4s were pretty much just me BS-ing with a technique I would never use if it weren't for the fact there were only 4 lines required there, but that's a fair critique regardless. What are you referring to as fry screams btw? I'm pretty sure I was only using false cord throughout the harsh parts there.

Also I confess the D2s were morning vois lol but they worked.

sorry for the late reply, but i have no idea what the screams were. they sounded like fry, but i wasn't doing them so i don't know. and that morning voice was pure sex lol.

I got a request from The Great Heroins to cover this song which is Sunglasses at Night by Corey Hart. I think it turned out pretty well, and I decided to record two guitar solos on top of it too for fun at 2:42 and 4:01. Lemme know what you think of both the guitar and vocals.

You're really good. Slightly harsh and very VERY slightly pitchy at the high notes, but it's really good. The guitar solo seemed a bit rush but it was good. I'm sorry if I seem rude or something, but I'm honestly not trying to be, and only trying to give constructive criticism.

Can you check my latest post on my own singing thread? I'd appreciate any feedback.

Me singing The Christmas Song made famous by Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby. I've always wanted to do a purely old school crooner type performance and I think did a pretty good job here.
