3:15 to 3:37 In Love

As you can see i'm shit at finding lows(please somebody help!)... doesn't help that she doesn't like going low often. Great raspy voice that sounds like it's teetering at the edge of a cliff at it's most powerful, but when it's sedated it has a very tender quality that's almost akin to a Hayley Williams that she peppers with an etheral head voice/falsetto. Really a tale of two voices here, both of them great, she's really the definition of a vocal powerhouse.

Doesn't it defeat the purpose of making a serious thread for her if you keep the F2 and D6?

TBH the F2 was just a placeholder to see if I could even find it in videos(and I suck at pitching lows but, definitely didn't hear anything close to an F2 in any live videos), but I actually think she hits head voice D6's sometimes during those performances after the middle chaotic breakdown in the song starts.

3:56 for instance.

This is why it's a good idea for OPs to specify and link live performances where extreme notes are found. I don't know about you but I don't plan to check out every live version on YouTube.
She sounds like the offspring of Bonnie Tyler and Geddy Lee!

Are you sure she's a contralto? She's got a well-developed high range... Just because she sounds sort of like a female tenor when she's screaming doesn't mean her voice is all that low. I haven't listened to many lows from her, but I'd go alto or even mezzo-soprano based on what I've heard.

K, calling her an Alto does make sense to me, so there it is... I really hope that's it and we don't start a voice type debate.

And lows here in the verses? 2:08 and afterwards sound pretty low for her.. although I think there's also some harmonized lows too.

Ok so i've been all over the place with these notes and their pitch. What note is she singing exactly along with the guitar from 2:44 to 3:00?

K, not to say it's any good but I think the F2 is in the first two seconds of this video.

My headphones are sucking right now. Does she hit G#5 for a second before going G5->F5 or is it just me? 4:48

She hits that D6 again here. Also, B5.

Whatever, I'll have the honors then.

Significant High Notes

B5 ("Mr Mr" live)
G5 ("Suicidal")
F♯5 ("Something Good", "Mr Mr")
F5 ("Radio 1 2" Live, "Mona Lisa", "Mr Mr")
E5 ("Mr Mr", "Six Pound Headache" live, "Suicidal", "Something Good")
E♭5 ("Mr Mr", "Six Pound Headache" live)
D5 ("Mr Mr", "Lovesick", "Radio 1 2", "Mona Lisa", "California Hombre", "Suicidal", "Something Good")
C♯5 ("Mona Lisa", "Mona Lisa", "Six Pound Headache" live, "Something Good")
C5 ("Mona Lisa" ,"Lovesick", "Radio 1 2", "California Hombre", "Suicidal")
B4 ("Mr Mr", "Lovesick", "Mona Lisa", "California Hombre", "Six Pound Headache" live, "Something Good")

Significant Low Notes
G3 ("California Hombre" live)
F♯3 ("Mr Mr" Live, "Something Good")
E3 ("Mr Mr" Live)

Notewatched this off mostly live performances, now the new album is out there's more interesting material to listen to. Not only emily has stepped up her game but the whole band is taking part vocally, some really sweet harmonies in Something Good and insane layerings in Mona Lisa, the more I listen to this song the more I get mindblown by it.

I even pitched notes from a song that isn't from the album.

Might notewatch the whole studio album tomorrow, we'll have to see. Obscured notes will take more time maybe.

Good job man, didnt have a chance myself to listen to it but now that i have... wow. Blue Was the Beautiful You is amazing. Feel Right at Home is fucking insane too, so catchy and that E5! so fleek.

Notewatching the album right now.

Holy fucking shit For You I am is almost entirely sung in B4-C5.

Yeah, her most abused area is Bb4-D5. Still sounds beautiful.

BTW, you listed F3 twice!

You may wanna add the obscured B5s in Mr Mr. when she first goes "nothing at all" near the end.

Listening to Dead Sara(2012) couldn't help noticing D5 and E5 in the harmony in Timed Blues.

I hear Bb2s and B2 in Greaser, whispered and fry. May not be significant. G5 in Greaser aswell.

E5, F#5, A3 in Snow In Los Angeles. (I don't think it has any D5s)

Sorry For It All has G3s and A3s. Considering how rarely she goes low I'd say A3 is low enough for Emily.

A3's in Heart Shaped Box (acoustic)

True, I suggest the voice type gets changed to "pterodactyl alto", "high testosterone alto" or something like that just for the sake of it.
