With A Little Help From My Friends

Post  Lars Gordonhauser on Fri Aug 29, 2014 9:21 am

Here is my own cover of one of my favourite The Beatles songs. All vocals and instruments are sung and played by myself. There is no midi sounds involved, only analog sounds, with the exception of the piano which is a digital piano by Yamaha. I wired the audio directly to the recorder, so its still very close to analog. The sound is also superior to most midi-pianos. There has been little to no digital enhancements except for some light mixing, so no quantisizing. The rythm section is also analag intruments, real snaps, hand claps, tambourine, maraccas, bells and I used an ukulele for the "bongo drum" sound. The guitar is a genuine Gibson SG.

For you notewathers out there, there are some full voice A4:s in the choir and some falsetto A5:s. The highest note in the lead vocal is Ab4. I am a baritone and Ab4 is as high as I go in full voice when it comes to lead vocals, maybe the occassional A4, but everything beyond sounds thin and strained.

Damn dude... It has a very Queen-Esque sound! I`m not too sure about some of the harmonies, they seem to sound kinda dissonant in parts, you have a fantastic sounding voice and you sound awesome doing the harmonies! I really liked the Ab4 btw! Very nice and resonant sounding indeed, with great vibrato.

Great cover man, really liked it! You've got a killer voice and the song is really nice. However I'm a bit worried that you feel the need to state that everything is analog as if that makes it better...
