Use ♯ ♭, and why do you have both blue and green for "probable non-modal" and "falsetto"?

B2s and a brief A2 at 0:32. E4s and F♯4s.

Brief, but common B2s. If the backing vocals at 1:05 and 1:43 are him, then F♯4s and E4s. E4s at 2:00 and on.

It's only a matter of time. I was gonna warn him that his use of the word "low" in the voice type would probably be brought up at some point. I just wanted to see how long it would take. Popcorn

He got away with being a low tenor for 3 hours and 25 minutes before he was apprehended and taken into custody. He will be released on probation as long as he goes by "tenor" from now on.

I'd suggest removing the red notes, as you already have 3 colors besides that and things can get confusing, and marking "bad notes" is kind of an archaic thing on here.

A2s, B2s and C3s in Father and Son. Also solid A2s in Ronan Keating version.

You are going to town on this thread! It looks like it's filled up quite a bit since you posted it, so good job man!

Anyway, brief E4 at 0:35 and 1:01.

Some E4s in the chorus.

Sidenote: I've never really listened to Cat Stevens, though of course I've known of him, and my dad has tried to get me into him I'm sure, but I'm really enjoying his music!

Also, I've had my fair share of being wrong about voice types, but are you sure he is a tenor? (I hear a hint of Van Morrison when he hits those E4s in "Here Comes My Baby".) Anyway, he kinda sounds back and forth to me, so maybe a baritenor? What do you think?

Thanks a lot for the notes, it's much appreciated and I'm glad to have gotten you deeper into an artist I have had many good times listening to. The guy's just different, you could listen to him for ten seconds and not like him or keep listening and he would grow & grow, which he does.

And onto the classification thing, to be honest, my switch to tenor was probably flimsy at best, I just thought he sounded too 'reedy' too often to be any kind of bari, but there's a polarizing force to him that's undeniable, guy's a baritenor...  Banghead

Anyway, peace out man and have a good one! And yes, dads have good music in their blood, mine turned me onto Cat Stevens too.  Cool

I'm all for stretching range types and preventing the endless discussions about someone's voice type, but here it's unwarranted.

This man is a baritone and there's no question about it. The reason you're confused is that he got popular at a really young age and in his early stuff his voice hadn't really broken yet. His timbre is very warm, his tessitura is particularly low and in a song like 'Father and Son' where he obviously sings the father as a baritone and the son as a tenor, he is struggling with the higher parts (His voice even breaks during the 'Ordered to listen' part). Sure, he can hit some reasonably high notes but this man is a textbook baritone.

I wouldn't even say he can hit high notes because A4 really isn't that high. But I don't know anything about this guy.

Not to get too far down the voice type discussion road to hell, but I agree that he's a baritone. Not too many tenor qualities about his voice except that I suppose it's a bit lighter than most baritones.

Also, this is another thread that deserves a reboot.
