Best Distorted Tone (Ryan Hunter): http://picosong.com/YUKa/
Envy on the Coast - Numb
I love the way the final chorus slowly evolves from a light falsetto to a full-out distorted scream, eventually sliding up to a great primal A5 at the end.

Best use of Soft Singing (Dan Nigro): http://picosong.com/YUBW/
As Tall As Lions - Be Here Now
Whispery lows ending in a fragile falsetto line by Dan Nigro.

Vocal Distortion (Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) - Ramble On): http://picosong.com/YUdz/
It's most notable on the very first notes and the last ones with the instruments and all.
If you struggle to hear it, here's the vocal track: http://picosong.com/YUdd/

Soft Singing (Paul McCartney - Wanderlust): http://picosong.com/YUG7/ -
I originally had a different song set for this category, but after some assistance in what kind of singing actually fit the category, I picked this 80's tune via suggestion. Ends with a fancy A4, too.

Distorted

Plant- Good clip featuring some classic Plant raspy highs. Not the best example of distortion though, so 2/5
Hunter- Cool distortion, sounds really good. I kind of wish it was in the lead vocal, but I probably shouldn't take off points for that so 4/5

Soft Singing

Macca- Love his tone and the melody, just a very pleasant sound 4/5
Nigro- This was lovely as fuck 4/5

Distorted Tone
Hunter: Impressive screaming, especially like that slide at the end. 4/5
Plant: I'm sorry, I just don't hear distortion here. Presumably it's those brief shouted notes at the beginning and end, but if you hadn't pointed them out I would be wondering what was missing. 1.5/5

Soft Singing
Nigro: Rich, warm tone, I like the melody too. Good transitional singing, though it loses the "soft" quality at the end. 3.5/5
Macca: I wouldn't really count this as soft singing exactly, but it is very good singing with a pleasant bright timbre. 3/5

Distorted Tone
Hunter: A demanding showcase of the harsher screaming, the dude has a great sound. Not exactly the most unique voice (IMO), but totally delivers here. 4/5
Plant: Amazing vocal, but it's not really the best example of Plant's distortion, apart from a few very select points where the voice distorts a tad. 2/5

Soft Singing
Nigro: A pleasant sound conveyed throughout the whole thing here. I liked the falsetto bits the most and actually wished he had used even more of those here. 3.5/5
Macca: I'd definitely call this something along the lines of 'soft singing' myself, kind of "Golden Slumbers"-esque in a way. Amazing sound and a totally effortless control. Very good. 4.5/5

Distorted tone
Hunter: Hey this was really cool! Some very intense screams though there isn't much else to say about it. 4.5/5
Plant: I do hear some distortion on this and it's pretty nice rasp but overall not an amazing clip for distortion specifically. 2.5/5

Soft singing
Nigro: This was quite nice and smooth. There was also a nice emotional edge to the delivery as well. 3.5/5
McCartney: Fantastic soft singing. The melody gave him a bit of a boost as well but regardless of that this is some masterful singing. 4.5/5

Best distorted tone:
Hunter - It's interesting that despite there being clean vox in there, it actually brings out the distorted/harsher parts more due to the contrast, and the harsher tones themselves are pretty well delivered and get fairly intense when the A5 comes in. 4/5
Plant - I prolly would've picked something else here for him altho this clip does give you a fairly good idea of Robert's natural rasp. 3/5

Best soft singing:
Nigro - Really nice stuff that stays pretty mellow even when the musically is getting a bit more dynamic, pretty warm tone as well. 4/5
Macca - Very nice sound and phrasing, some might think tonally it's not soft but to me the music and delivery certainly implies it as such. 4/5

It is in the lead vocal, isn't it? There's a lot of earlier melodies that build up behind it make it a bit confusing but I'd still call it the lead

Distorted singing
Hunter: All sorts of stuff going on here. Loved the versatility, great sound overall. 4.5/5
Plant: Only a bit of distortion overall. 2/5

Soft singing
Nigro: Nice tone overall. It wasn't -that- soft overall, but the warm tone made up for it. Wished he used more of that falsetto, the bit at the very end was great. 3.5/5
McCartney: Very warm, really pleasant (I feel like I'm saying this for a lot of clips). Was consistent so I don't really have much to say. 3.5/5

Best distorted tone:

Hunter: Cool screaming sound, wish it was a bit higher in the mix though. 4.5/5
Plant: There's distortion, but it's not particularly impressive as far as distorted tone goes. 2.5/5

Best use of soft singing:

Nigro: Very good soft tone. 4/5
McCartney: Same as above, though it's definitely a different approach. 4/5

Best Distorted Tone

Hunter: Really interesting clip, I really like the mix of distortion with clean voice used in this clip. Really creative. 4,5/5

Plant: Hmm, I don't like this at all. Plant sounds really shaky at parts and the distortion isn't applied very well (You definitely can hear the slight rasp he (nacturally?) adds on the higher notes. 2/5

Best Soft Singing

Nigro: Good soft singing, not much to say about that. 3/5

Macca: The tone wasn't that soft in itself (I've hear way softer stuff by him), but the "sweet" phrasing and the (relatively) soft backing instrumentation makes this a good fit for this category. Simply lovely timbre, really cute and pleasant sound. 4,5/5
