  • A2 ("Fly Away")
  • G♯2 ("At the Gallows End" demo, "Solitude" 2007 Version)
  • G2 ("Alone" live 2009)

Best known as the original singer of influential Swedish doom metal band Candlemass, Johan was also the singer in an obscure band called Jonah Quizz and now sings in the pop group Impulsia. Fairly dramatic, deep sounding voice for the most part but he also has a pretty flexible high range when he feels like using it.

This thread has been brought back from the depths that were TRP1 though so it is far from being totally accurate or finished as of now.

AMAZING singer, a real shame that he didn't release much material. His voice gives the whole "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" album much depth and intensity. From the top of my head, there is some E♭5s in "A Sorcerer's Pledge".

first an E♭5 - 2:33 - D5 at 4:15 - another E♭5 at 5:29
The riff from 2:20 is one of my favorite riffs from all time

Edit: There's this other F5 from "Demon's Gate" at 3:39, but it doesn't sound to me one of his best notes. I love this song and his whole performance though.

Also, What? Does he sing in a pop group now?  Shocked

This isn't exactly what I would call "pop", but well, comparing this to his Doom Metal work with Candlemass, it's definitely "poppy", but then I've heard a lot of "metal" bands sounding like this. Catchy song, despite his timbre not being really similar to what he used to sound like. But he definitely still got pipes. The title "Oceans of Love" is really cringeworthy though.

What do you think of extending his highs -or maybe his lows too-? There is a lot of powerful and rich notes around G4-A4 from him that could be counted imo.

Oh yeah I'm definitely intending on expanding both but haven't got to it yet. Any specific notes you'd like to see added?

"Solitude" has an E♭5 (2:36) and a C5 (4:25) , and "Crystal Ball" has an E♭5 (16:51) too. The instruments and the vocals sound slightly sharp-ish in pitch in that album though. My connection started to bug while I was listening to the album on youtube so I stopped around there Razz

My favorite Candlemass singer, and one of my top 10 favorite metal singers ever
But, curious... How come this guy has a thread and Messiah Marcolin doesn't?

I'd like to see a thread for Messiah too.

Messiah had a thread on TRP1 but it was badly pitched. He has Bb2-F5 at least. I'll try and get around to putting up a WIP for him at some point.
