Skin is a singer for a band called Skunk Anansie. One of a few black woman singing in a rock style. Wide high falsetto range used in various ways makes her voice memorable. Though her range is lacking lows for a moment, singing is not about range, but your feeling and that special something. She definitely deserves some attention as her vocals are really interesting and done not in an usual way. C:

I remember some faint E5s from "Tear Down These Houses" or whatever it was called.

The ones from "Tear down these houses" are actually F5s. And what's this squeak at 1:09 and the note at 3:02 in the song below?

1:00 - 1:25 E♭5s and D5s, dat vibrato  Shocked , and an F5 at 2:14

B3s throughout, D5s in the chorus and second verse, E5s and some F♯5s around 3 minutes in, and even a brief soft B5 at 3:27.  Freak

I really need to check out Skunk Anansie sometime, I hear Lemmy's a fan.  Smile

she literally has feathers bursting from her shoulders, yet you don't see any semblance of a bird.

clearly a vulture

inb4 B6: "the plumage is all wrong, she's clearly more akin to the Gymnogyps californianus which can be spotted in cliffs and large trees in the South Western United States, primarily California where it derives it's name. i love fossils"

/derailing part two

I enjoyed her singing with Bjork on Top Of The Pops for their collaborative version of "Army Of Me". She seems to be quite a goofy lady with great energy.

I am big fan of her. I especially love her falsseto notes which create a very nice contrast to her raspy belts. Moreover it is so rare  to see black female singing a  rock/metal music. She is a truly extraordinary. Smile

Some of my favourite E5's at the end of "Weak" Smile

Also G5's at the end of this live version, although some are a little offkey

I think those are G♯5s, actually (G5s would be the 'right' note).

That's certainly possible. I didn't have guitar or keyboard on me last night, I just figured G5's because the song is in E minor.

The pre-chorus and the chorus are so  In Love, are those E♭5's she tops at in the chorus? 4:02 to 4:15 is also amazing, the last chorus is powerful as all hell and she tops even higher, her tone is so amazing.

I actually really like this band, God Love Only You and Hedonism are all time favorites.

yep, these are Eb5s and she even sing F#5 in the end of chorus. In 4:05 part she tops at F5 and in the very end of the song there's a soft G#5.

I'm missing her voice type there...
I'm not good identifying women voice types (for some weird reason), but I would say she is a mezzosoprano? Sounds like one to me... Correct me if I'm wrong.
