This guy's voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Pretty much ruins DGD for me.

Anyway...do go on.

Hmm it's true he uses a really head based technique but I find his chops to be quite good and impressive, though he sounds much better in Tides.

great vocals and awesome song!!

Been meaning to make this one for a while but couldn't find any low notes.

"Knowing that you've already Arrived" has a lot of great raspy E5's and some short F5's in the chorus

I'm getting that as an F5, but someone should probably double check.

There's some raspy but strong G5s in "Western Scene" in the chorus (2:05 as an example) and at 4:20 as well.

And in "Up In The Air" there's a G5 in the background harmony at 2:56

Beat me to the G5's in "Up In The Air". They don't sound full to me though.

It is really hard to tell since they're so far back in the mix, but the way he comes down from them in the melody is completely connected, so they sound modal at least to me. He also pretty much never uses full head voice.

To be honest that's something that's almost impossible to tell, but it's most likely mixed, yeah. That's still considered modal though, and thus, full.

His natural placement is light tenor though,Tilian uses a very head based light mix I myself tried that from time to time and I'll say that it's a hard thing to learn but once you do,you can never screw
up on a high note with that technique. He however has changed from more raspy to a more smooth and poppy for Acceptance Speech,I personally like his raspier style more.

Amazing singer as far as I'm concerned..
How would you compare him to the Weeknd ?
Timbre, tone, high notes , technique, pretty much everything?
Can anybody please let me know if the higest full note by the Weeknd is a C5 in valerie.
Thanks everyone Very Happy Embarassed

I take back my douchy comments about this guy. He's no Jonny Craig but he doesn't ruin the band for me at all.

I know this topic was made before the release of Instant Gratification, there are some pretty strong F#5's in Shark Dad.
