The fire-throated vocalist of Dark Tranquillity, Mikael Stanne has one of the most distinctive and powerful higher end harsh vocal styles in metal. This is also greatly complimented by his Dave Gahan/Morrissey influenced clean baritone voice that he introduced on their 1999 Projector album (along with a cameo on their debut Skydancer) and has refined considerably since.

*Italics mark spoken/non-sung notes.
*Green marks harsh screams.
*Grey marks solidly pitched vocal fry notes.

I was contemplating doing a thread for this guy myself for awhile! Not as big of a Dark Tranquillity fan as I used to be, Mikael is probably one of favourite vocalists in melodeath tho, was always a fan of his dark clean tone and his venomous distorted tone ("Projector" was always a favourite album as well).

This has probably the most range I've heard from him in one song, some G♯2/F♯2s in the first verse, a high distorted note @ 4:20 (C♯5?) and some weird F♯5s from 5:11 on (probably the highest note I've heard from him):

Hmm not sure about the F♯5s, I'm only hearing it get to D5 or so. A bit disappointed by the lows (I was expecting more of his clean voice) but I suppose they're solid.

Yeah, those lows do have that sorta gritty sound.

I'm pretty sure gets up there at the beginning of each phrase ("WE LOOK AT you, afraid"/"TO SEE what you really are...", weird notes either way), I do hear D5s at the end tho...
