John Henry

Post  Stoner on Tue May 14, 2013 1:16 pm

Voice type: Low Tenor...simply because there ain't something very baritonish in his voice
Total vocal range: G#2 - C5
Sung vocal range: G#2 - C5

Significient high notes:

C5 - Doomsayer, Beyond the Life You Know, Convalescence
B♭4 - Beyond the Life You Know, Love as a Weapon, Savor the Kill
A4 - Demon(s)
G#4 - Doomsayer
F#4 - Savor the Kill
F4 - Beyond the Life You Know, Convalescence

Significient low notes:

G3 - Love as a Weapon (listen to it if you want some cleaner stuff)
G#2 - Demon(s)
Surely lower notes in the interviews...

Known for his extremely gruff and rasped vocals which blurs the frontier between non-modal and modal screams, John Henry is the singer of the melodic death metal band Darkest Hour, which is my favorite death band by far.
Here's some videos to let you discover the band and its voice:

Yeah, it's death metal. The outro with the falsetto C5 harmonized with the clean F4 sounds beautiful.

Caracteristic shouted singing in the chorus. These Bb4 sounds like earthquakes.

Funny to see that his speaking voice is pretty gentle and happy sounding. This is one of the lastest (if not the last) interview of the band.

To be continued... albino

*Orange marks notes with questionable registers: absolutely no use figuring out these.
*Blue marks probable non-modal notes.
*Red marks extremely farted bad, unimpressive or unintentional notes.
*Indigo marks probable non-modal notes with questionable qualities (overshooting, cracked, erratic-sounding)
*Italics mark non-sung notes.
