Elena Tonra

Post  inhibitions on Fri Apr 12, 2013 11:05 am

Current status: READY FOR REVIEW, but if you have something that will help me, tell me! Smile

Voice type: Mezzo-Soprano
Sung range: C3-C5
Total range: B2-C5

Significant high notes:
C5 ("Youth", "Run", "Peter", "Smother")
B4 ("Youth", "Medicine", "Love", "Run", "Candles")
B♭4 ("Run")
A4 ("Peter", "Home", "Candles", "Run")
G♯4 ("Candles", "Youth")

Significant low notes:

B♭3 ("Youth")
G♯3 ("Home", "Love")
G3 ("Run")
E3 ("Youth", "Smother", "Run")
D3 ("Smother")
C3 ("Youth")

Not necessarily the most versatile artist from what she has out now, Tonra is a part of an indie folk band named "Daughter" that stemmed from her solo work. I hear her as a less chesty Florence Welch-- given that I got any of this right. It's a really hard thing for me to pick out specific notes so I can be way off. Right now, it sounds as though she's dabbling around in the upper third/lower fourth octave primarily. I tried to use live versions of the songs.

Can't wait to see how she'll develop!

Spoiler:

.......................................................
*Orange marks notes with questionable registers: absolutely no use figuring out these.
*Blue marks probable non-modal notes.
*Red marks extremely bad, unimpressive or unintentional notes.
*Italics mark non-sung notes.

I was very skeptical of that red note. But I was a douche and didn't put up my sources-- so I'll be doing that after I post this.

I sort of hear a spoken-like note around the 3:20 mark. Maybe it's not a B2 but rather a C3?

Thank you so much! Smile I'll be adding my sources and that C5.

I hear an A and a B♭ when she says " for someone" but they're in the third octave

Well, thank you so much Smile. I've got to post some more material I've listened to as well. Will fix the red note.

alright, I've marked this as ready to review. Any opinions? "Run" is a track that shows off some better lows...

"Run" only has B♭3s and G3s as far as lows go (luckily, it actually has quite a few B♭4s and C5s). Also this girl's voice is so light.

Hmm I liked your old colour better B6. This new dark blue colour does not suit your light nature.
