Any poll that has The Beatles against something else as options is, by definition, unfair Tiphat

I am entirely agree, I almost didnt want to put them in this because they aren't a band as much as they were the single most powerful and influential force to ever exist in the history of this planet. One can argue that at the height of their career they had more power over the people than any political figure has in the history of the world.

I'm missing The Who and The Beach Boys there. But, good list, anyway! Wink

Led Zeppelin was late sixties, but they were more prominently a seventies band. I deeply regret not putting the Beach Boys now that I look back over it.

Can't believe The Who weren't included. They were active beginning in '64 and released their debut album in '65, before the debut album of the Velvet Underground, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, and The Doors. And The Beach Boys' debut was released before any of those other band's debuts.

I fucking love the Sixties Bee GEES DUDE! They had some incredible pieces of work that simply nobody listens to. Excellent hipster potential I must say. Anyway, disregarding the fact that my favorite is The Beatles hands down and that would be my vote no matter what had I not decided to give some credit to my next favorite band The Zombies, The Bee Gees are my next favorite. Even over the Doors and Pink Floyd!

Yea but The Doors released 90% of their albums in the sixties and Led Zeppelin Released 80% of theirs in the seventies.

The most compassionate, and charismatic, soul-binding, emotional, and amazing guitar playing in psychedelic rock. Yes, you guessed it.

I am not that big of a Hendrix fan personally. His guitar playing is stellar, probably even the best, but I feel like all of his songs sound the same. AKA his voice isn't very dynamic. In my own opinion, he would have had such better material as an artist being a lead guitarist and harmony vocalist in a group with a stellar singer of Paul McCartney caliber.

I get a different vibe from each Hendrix album; at least, I consider Are You Experienced?, Axis: Bold As Love, and Electric Ladyland all different-sounding albums. Axis was definitely the connection between the other two, though. The rhythm playing was more interesting by his second album, but his first album stood out in that aspect as well, especially with Wind Cries Mary.

Heroins, I understand your obsession with vocals as well; and while Hendrix's music doesn't really stand out in that area, there are a few songs with some special singing. Personally, I like "Have You Ever Been To Electric Ladyland?" or whatever song the last album was named after.
